Laura Huntley

Receptionist

Helping clients feel supported from the moment they arrive

Laura works on the reception desk at Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital. Most days she is answering calls, sorting bookings and helping with medication requests. There is always something happening at the front desk, and she tries to keep things running smoothly so clients feel looked after from the start.

She knows that many people walk through the door feeling stressed or worried about their pets, so she focuses on being calm, patient and easy to talk to.

A natural fit for someone who loves animals and people

Laura has always enjoyed being around animals, and she has spent most of her working life in customer-facing roles. Veterinary reception brought those two things together in a way that made sense for her. She likes being in a place where the goal is simple: to help animals and support the families who care for them. Seeing a nervous client relax or watching a pet respond to a bit of gentle attention are the small moments she enjoys most.

“A little kindness at the right time can mean a lot.”

A moment that stayed with her

One call stands out in her mind. It had been a tough day, and she answered the phone to a client who recognised her voice straight away. They told her they were glad she had picked up because she was easy to talk to. The comment wasn’t dramatic, but it meant something to her. It reminded her that sometimes the smallest things can make a difficult moment feel lighter.

Feeling at home at the clinic

Laura appreciates the atmosphere at Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital. The clinic is independent and family-run, which gives it a close and genuine feel. After moving to Australia without knowing anyone, she found the team warm and welcoming. Over time, they became her support network and the place where she has formed real friendships. Her teammates describe her as kind, bubbly, patient and approachable.

Life outside work

Outside the clinic, Laura keeps busy with running club, reading and exploring new cafes and restaurants around Melbourne. She also has a Labrador cross named Dino, who lives with her family in Wales. Black Labradors and black cats have always been favourites of hers, and she loves meeting any that come through the clinic.
