Dr Elizabeth is one of the veterinarians at Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital. Much of her work centres around skin conditions, orthopaedic cases and pain management.
She uses physiotherapy skills daily, often combining laser therapy, acupuncture, and rehabilitation techniques to help animals move more comfortably. She enjoys looking at a case from several angles and finding ways to improve a pet’s comfort in practical, meaningful ways.
Before becoming a vet, Dr Elizabeth worked as a physiotherapist in Ireland. She spent more than three years in respiratory, emergency and orthopaedic departments, where she gained a deep understanding of pain, mobility and recovery. These skills now shape her veterinary work and influence how she assesses and treats her patients.. Her interest in animals goes back even further. Her grandfather was a vet in Ireland, and his work left a lasting impression on her.
“Helping animals feel more comfortable day-to-day is incredibly rewarding.”
One recent patient stands out for Dr Elizabeth. A dog arrived with a severe abdominal wound that required ongoing laser therapy. The progress was slow at first, then suddenly dramatic as the wound began to heal faster than expected. Watching that turnaround confirmed the value of evidence based treatment and consistent follow up care.
Dr Elizabeth appreciates how well organised the hospital is and how strong the client relationships are. She also values the support of the wider veterinary team. When a case becomes complex, there is always someone ready to share insight or offer another set of hands. She likes the layout of the clinic too. The artificial grass area gives anxious dogs a calmer space outside, and the cat friendly waiting zone helps cats settle before their appointment.
Outside of work, Dr Elizabeth enjoys reading and spending time with her kids. At home, she has a lively Miniature Jack Russell named Poppy, who keeps the whole household entertained.
