Caring for patients with confidence and kindness

Baylee is one of the veterinary nurses at Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital. Her days are hands-on and busy, from placing IV catheters and monitoring anaesthetics to caring for patients staying in the hospital.

She enjoys the practical side of nursing and likes knowing she is helping animals feel safe and supported while they are in the clinic.

A passion that started early

Baylee has loved animals for as long as she can remember. She grew up with a wide mix of pets, which gave her early experience caring for different species and personalities. She has been at the hospital for three and a half years and has learned most of her nursing skills from the team around her. Their guidance has shaped her into the confident nurse she is today.

“I love being there for animals when they need us most.”

A moment that stayed with her

One experience that stood out for Baylee was when a young ringtail possum was brought into the clinic without its mother. The little possum was too small for a wildlife carer to take on, so Baylee brought it home for a few days. It weighed only 60 grams when it arrived, and she hand-fed it milk and helped with its toileting until it reached a healthy weight. By the end of the week it was strong enough to be passed on for rehabilitation. Helping a native animal take that step forward is something she is proud of.

What she values about the team

Baylee enjoys the feeling of teamwork in the hospital, especially when emergencies come through the door. Everyone works together to stabilise the patient, and it is always rewarding to watch them walk back out with their families. Her teammates describe her as bubbly, funny and kind, and she appreciates the friendships she has made along the way.

Life outside the clinic

Outside of work, Baylee loves being near the beach, visiting local markets and spending time with her pets, friends and family. She has two cats, Mochi and Miso, and an Australian Shepherd named Evie. She has a soft spot for the breed and enjoys getting out and about with her dog whenever she can.
