Some conditions require more than routine surgery. We regularly support pets needing advanced procedures such as large tumour removals, mammary gland surgery, abdominal surgery for foreign bodies, bladder surgery, spleen removal and liver biopsy. We also perform advanced ophthalmic procedures, including diamond burr debridement for corneal ulcers, an advanced surgical procedure that most general practices refer to eye specialists.
These situations are often stressful for owners, particularly when surgery is unexpected. Our focus is on helping you understand what is happening and what your pet needs, while approaching each case carefully and without rushing decisions.

Preparing High-Risk Patients Carefully
Some pets need extra support before surgery. This may be due to age, underlying illness or the nature of the procedure itself. In these cases, preparation becomes just as important as the surgery.
Blood tests, intravenous fluids and additional monitoring help us build a clear picture of your pet’s health before they go to theatre. For higher-risk cases, we also have access to blood products and donor dogs if transfusion support is needed. These steps allow surgery to proceed in a more controlled and considered way.
Recovery and Ongoing Support
After surgery, your pet will need time. Some are brighter within a day or two. Others take longer to return to themselves, especially after more involved procedures.
