Dr Yuen Jia is one of the veterinarians at Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital. Her days involve a mix of consultations, surgery and diagnostic work. She enjoys the variety and the problem-solving that comes with each patient she sees. After two decades in practice, she has developed a steady and confident way of working that helps both pets and their owners feel at ease.
Dr Yuen Jia has a strong interest in ultrasound and continues to enjoy the challenges that medicine and surgery bring. What matters most to her is helping pets feel better and strengthening the bond they share with their families.
Her aim has always been simple. She wanted to improve the quality of life of the animals she cared for. Over nearly two decades, she has gained experience across many areas of veterinary medicine and brings this knowledge to every patient he sees. She values teamwork and believes the strength of the hospital lies in the way staff communicate, support one another, and step in when they are needed most.
“Helping pets live healthier and happier lives is the most rewarding part of my work.”
One case she will never forget involved a young puppy named Harvey who arrived gravely ill with Addison’s disease. With quick testing through the hospital’s in-house blood machines, the team was able to reach a diagnosis and begin treatment right away. The nurses monitored the puppy closely through the day, and their care played a large part in his recovery. Harvey still visits every month for his injections and always arrives with his tail wagging. For Dr Yuen Jia, this case reflects the way the hospital works together when it matters most.
Outside of work, she enjoys karaoke and relaxing with her own pets, a cat and a dog. She has a real soft spot for Greyhounds and British Shorthairs. Time away from the clinic helps her reset and keep a healthy balance, especially after a busy week of surgery and consultations.
