Senior Veterinary Nurse

Supporting patients and guiding junior nurses

Maddison is a Senior Veterinary Nurse at Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital. She values a healthy and balanced life and brings that same steady approach to her work.

Each day, she focuses on growing her skills, helping clients understand their pets’ needs, and supporting the younger nurses who are finding their feet in the profession. She enjoys the variety in her role and the fact that no two days feel the same.

A career shaped by passion

Maddison has always had a strong love for animals. Her first connection with Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital came through her family dog. That visit led to the opportunity to complete her work placement while studying her dual Certificate III. She later finished her Certificate IV and is now working towards her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. As her career has grown, she has taken on a role supporting junior nurses and enjoys helping them build confidence and develop their skills.

“I love helping clients feel confident about their pet’s care.”

Moments that stay with her

Many cases have made an impact on Maddison during her time at the hospital. She feels most connected to the patients who spend longer stays in the hospital, where she plays a bigger part in their care. Some recover and go home stronger, while others face more difficult outcomes. What matters to her is knowing that each patient is treated with kindness and that their comfort always comes first. She treasures the thoughtful cards and messages from owners who appreciate the time and care given to their pets. Those gestures remind her why the work is so meaningful.

What she values about the team

Maddison enjoys being part of a team with so many different strengths. The vets each bring their own areas of interest, which means the hospital can handle a wide range of cases with confidence. She likes how easily everyone works together and how willing the team is to help each other during busy moments. To her, the clinic feels close and supportive, almost like a small family. Her teammates would probably describe her as calm and steady, with a habit of offering a hug when someone needs one.

Life outside the clinic

When she is not at work, Maddison spends time with her pets and looks for any excuse to be outdoors. She enjoys reading and going on little adventures, whether that means exploring somewhere new or simply making the most of a quiet day. Her own animals include her dog Eevee, her cats Yumi and Gretel, and a few alpacas and a cow that still live on her family’s farm.

Do you offer same-day appointments?

Yes. We reserve a number of same day consultations for urgent concerns. Please call early so we can help you as soon as possible.

Can I get repeat medications?

Yes. Repeat prescriptions can be requested by phoning the clinic. Some medications may require a check-up first to ensure they are still appropriate and safe for your pet.

Do you have in-house blood testing and imaging?

Yes. We offer full blood testing onsite, along with X ray and ultrasound, plus access to mobile CT for more complex cases.

What if my pet has an emergency?

Call us straight away as you are making your way to the clinic, giving a brief description of the emergency so we can be prepared for your pet’s arrival. Depending on the emergency, in certain circumstances, we may direct you to the nearest 24 hour emergency centre.

How Long Are Your Consultations?

Our consults are longer than standard appointments. This gives us time to examine your pet carefully, talk through our findings and answer any questions without rushing.
